*It's here! Our first ever competition coffee!*

Arnulfo Leguizamo is a member of Asociación Los Naranjos, an initiative Cafe Imports developed to pay premiums for coffees that meet certain cup-quality specifications. Arnulfo says he has been around coffee his whole life and knew that he wanted to start a farm to make high quality coffee. He and his family moved to San Agustin and purchased 3 hectares. In 2011, his third year of entering the Cup of Excellence competition, Arnulfo won first place! An unprecedented price of $45/lb was paid for his winning coffee and with these funds he purchased another 3 hectares to double the size of his farm. This lot is now called El Faldon. Arnulfo grows four different varieties and keeps each lot separate through processing. He puts an emphasis on the fermentation phase of processing and talks about how important this is to cup quality. Our importer partners also met Diego, his son, at the Los Naranjos cupping lab where he is training to be a cupper and plans to stay in the family business. We are super lucky to have snagged the last remaining bag of Arnulfo’s Castillo this year and are excited to taste what he brings in for next harvest.

Thank you Arnulfo and shoutout to Julius for taking this one to competition!
